The Bishop of Kaduna Diocese of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Josiah Idowu-Fearon, has declared that the high level of corrupt practices in Nigeria today is worst that same-sex marriage that the nation’s National Assembly is currently legislating against.
Apparently referring to the menace of corruption, ravaging the soul of Nigeria in both public and private sectors, the cleric said for members of the National Assembly be taken seriously, there was an urgent need for them to pass a bill against corruption.
Idowu-Fearon spoke at the ordination of Priests and the Installation of Canons at the St. Michael Cathedral, Kaduna, on Sunday.
The Bishop, who noted that insecurity and high unemployment rate among others were vices that were gradually crippling the nation, argued that looting of the nation’s treasury by public officials were the worst of all the problems confronting the country.
This, he added, deserved urgent and definite effort to curtail graft in the system.
He noted that corruption had remained a monster in the country, pointing out that nothing would work unless it was fought headlong.
