NNPC assures Nigerians of adequate supply of petrol during, after yuletide

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Friday assured Nigerians of the availability and supply of petroleum products during and after the Christmas and New Year celebration across the country.

The General Manager, Public Affairs Department, NNPC, Dr Omar Ibrahim, said in Abuja that there was "no cause for alarm''.

Ibrahim said the nation had crossed over the era when members of the public would be entertaining fear in anticipation of fuel scarcity.

According to him, the present administration has put in place adequate measures to ensure that the era of fuel scarcity during festival become a thing of the past.

"I can confirm that we have enough stock of petroleum products to last from now till the end of the yuletide season and even beyond.

"We are ready for ample supply of fuel during the yuletide, I can tell you that categorically, hence there is no cause for alarm.

"Throughout the year, we have kept the entire nation wet with products and we have the capacity to sustain the tempo,'' he said.

Ibrahim appealed to members of the public to refrain from any form of panic buying in anticipation of fuel scarcity.

"The NNPC is very prepared for the Yuletide. We have more than enough stock, even if the corporation did not bring in products within the period, it still had enough to go round the country.

"We are properly positioned in terms of stock at our various distribution outlets to support petroleum distribution, so Nigerians don't need to panic,'' he said. (NAN)
