Indications that the Peoples Democratic Party might have zeroed its mind on President Goodluck Jonathan as its sole Presidential candidate for the 2015 election emerged in Abuja on Thursday.
This happened when the leadership of the party prayed that the President should not only emerge as the party’s candidate, it equally prayed that he should win the general election.
The National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo, who led the prayer, asked God to also help the party overcome its many problems.
Oladipo said, “We prayed to you God, to help our President win the election and come out tops in 2015 in Jesus name.
“Father, we prayed that the crisis in the party would stop and that the President would lead us well in the name of God.”
Those in the auditorium, where the prayer was held before the inauguration of the Kwara State State Executive Committee caretaker committee of the party, including the members of the National Working Committee of the party, answered with a thunderous amen.
Among members of the NWC at the meeting were the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur; National Oganising Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha; National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, and the National Treasurer, Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju.
An aide to one of the NWC members, who sat close to our corespondent, wondered whether the prayer was not an indication that there would not be any presidential primary in the party.
