In an effort aimed at finding a lasting solution to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan is to meet with the seven aggrieved governors from the party on Sunday.
Already, sources close to the governors said a letter had been sent to them concerning the meeting.
The letter was said to have been signed by the President’s Chief of Staff, Mike Oghiadomhe, who indicated in the letter that the meeting would hold by 9 p.m. at the First Lady’s Conference Room, the State House, Presidential Villa.
The governors are Rabiu Kwankwanso(Kano); Aliyu Wamakko(Sokoto), Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Aliyu Babangida (Niger); Abdulfatai Ahmed(Kwara); and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa).
A source close to one of the governors, who spoke in confidence with our correspondent on Wednesday night, said the governors would attend the meeting.
He said, “Yes, we have been invited to the meeting, which will hold on Sunday. We will be there and we hope that this time around, we would be able to resolve our differences.”
Before now, the President had met with the group twice, but they were not able to arrive at an agreeable conclusion.
