Protesting Anambra State women have called for the sack of INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
The protesting women yesterday said Jega should be sacked because of the commission’s failure to conduct credible guber elections in the state, adding that the election was far from being credible, free and fair.
The women groups led by Chief Mrs. Nneka Ugwenze of Aroma in Awka said the election conducted on November 16 was fraudulent and did not reflect the peoples’ will .
She said, if the supplementary elections as announced by INEC holds today, it would split the state, adding that for peace and harmony to reign in the state, the electoral umpire should cancel the polls.
Ugwenze said “Jega has failed on the trust we had in him, since he couldn’t conduct elections in one state . We wonder how he would conduct the general elections in 2015”.
Meanwhile, there were lots of security operatives in the capital city in readiness for today’s supplementary election.
