I'm not dead - Emir of Gusau tells subjects

The Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, has refuted rumours of his purported death being peddled across the state.

In a statewide broadcast on the state owned radio station on Thursday, the emir assured the people of the state that he was still alive.

“l want the people to know that l am alive, but l will soon go to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment,” he said.

The monarch said the announcement was necessary in order to clear the air over rumours being peddled by some people that he had died.

The emir, however, thanked his well wishers for their concern over his well being and urged them to continue to pray for him.

A statement earlier issued by the Secretary of the Emirate, Alhaji Sambo Sambo, said the emir was going to Saudi Arabia and would be there for seven weeks.

The statement said, during his stay, the emir would undergo medical checks at the Saudi German Hospital as well as perform the lesser hajj.

The rumours about the emir’s death were widespread early in the week which led to the radio broadcast.
