An Abuja Federal High Court on Wednesday deferred the trial of former DAAR Communications Plc Chairman, Raymond Dokpesi till October 19.
Justice John Tsoho adjourned the matter due to the absence of the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is currently prosecuting the media mogul for alleged involvement in a N2.1bn fraud.
At today’s resumed trial, the defence counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe brought to the notice of the court the absence of the lead prosecution counsel, Jacobs.
Adedipe explained to the court that Jacobs had sent a message to the lead defence counsel, Wole Olanipekun, SAN, who had already flown into Abuja from Lagos for the case that he will not be available because he was appearing before an Appeal Court on the same day.
He, therefore, urged the court for a long adjournment in view of the upcoming court vacation, adding that it will give the prosecuting team ample time to put its house in order.
Following Adedipe’s submission, Justice Tsoho adjourned the case to October 19.
