CJ orders Aregbesola to provide debt profile of Osun state

The Chief Judge of Osun state, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, Thursday granted a mandamus order compelling the state Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, to provide information about the debt profile of the state and defrayment modality.

The order was sought by a human right lawyer, Mr Kanmi Ajibola, pursuant to Order 40, Rule 3 of the High court with 30 paragraphs affidavit in support of motion ex-parte.

Ajibola urged the court to compel Aregbesola to provide the lists of all capital projects being executed by his government since November 26, 2011.

The applicant sought an order compelling the Governor to provide information about the financial cost of all the capital projects executed by him.

He urged the court to compel the Governor to provide evidence of the lodgment of the deductions from the salaries of the Osun State Civil Servants, being their contributions to the Pension Scheme into the Retirement Savings Account.

The human rights lawyer also sought an order of the court compelling Governor Aregbesola to provide evidence of the lodgment of the Contributory Pension Scheme into the Contributory Retirement Savings.

Meanwhile, since the case was filed on May 12, 2016, the Governor has not been represented in court by any lawyer.

However, the Chief Judge subsequently granted all the order and directed the respondent to provide all the information as sought by the applicant.
