Yobe Govt donates N2.5million to baby born with heart outside, to fly to Ghana for surgery


Yobe State government has donated the sum of N2.5m to the baby who was born with her heart outside the chest wall.

The baby who is originally from Geidam Local Government of Yobe State was delivered on the 5/06/2016 at Gonigori village of Geidam Local Government.


The Yobe State Government donation is coming as big relief for the family in an other donations that have already poured in for the treatment of the baby.

According to family sources, the baby who is exactly 9days old today was named as ‘Aisha’ last Saturday in her village and the name was communicated to the parents who are with her at the University Teaching Hospital Maiduguri, Maiduguri, Borno State.

The baby requires the sum of N3m for the surgery to be done.

The Chairman Medical Advisory Council of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital Dr. Mohammed Bashir Tahir revealed that, “the governor has just spoken personally to me now. Yobe state government has donated the sum of N2.5million for the treatment of the baby.

This is a very good gesture coming from the Yobe State Government and we are pleased with this kind of intervention,” Dr. Bashir informed.

Dr. Bashir also informed that the First Lady of Nigeria, Hajiya Aisaha Buhari has also promised to take care of the cost of the operations. We hope to fly the baby to Ghana for the surgery tomorrow God’s willing,” Dr. Bashir informed.
